Venetian Lighthouse of Fiskardo

About the Experience

D iscover the incredible history of the old lighthouse, built during the Venetian ascendancy in the 16th century. Although it's no longer functional(decommissioned in 1892 when a Victorian structure replaced it), the lighthouse has been well-preserved. Its cylindrical tower remains an imposing structure despite years of neglect. The lighthouse keepers' old residence from that era, which is also abandoned, can be found in its garden. Both the lighthouse and the house are surrounded by impressive stone masonry. The old lighthouse holds significant architectural and historical significance. Unfortunately, it suffered extensive damage during the disastrous earthquakes of 1953. But thanks to the generosity of the Apostolides family, the tower has been restored to its former glory. On October 19th, 2018, an event was held to celebrate this remarkable achievement. We hope that you will be able to visit the lighthouse soon. Until then, take a moment to admire the remains and enjoy the breathtaking view of the charming village and beautiful harbour. You will want to take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience history and architecture in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
