Agia Sofia Beach

About the Experience

A gia Sofia Beach is a hidden gem at the end of a side road leading from Agia Efimia to Fiscardo village. This beautiful beach boasts a serene atmosphere that provides total relaxation to its visitors. The beach is not very popular, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful and tranquil environment to unwind. The beach is easily accessible by car, and although the parking space is limited, it is usually sufficient compared to the number of visitors it receives. Along the coast, some uninhabited houses offer a nostalgic and serene atmosphere juxtaposed with the wild nature around. These houses are remnants of the pre-earthquake era, before 1953, when a settlement existed on the shore. Unfortunately, after the catastrophic earthquake, it was abandoned. Agia Sofia Beach is a picturesque location covered with white pebbles. Its crystal-clear, deep waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The beach is surrounded by olive and fig trees, which provide plenty of shade, making it an ideal relaxing spot. Adjacent to Agia Sofia lies Chorgota Beach, which is equally stunning and uniquely charming. Some scenes of the famous Hollywood movie Captain Corelli’s Mandolin were filmed at this beach, adding to its allure and making it an exciting destination for movie enthusiasts.
